An overview of "Lights Out" automated promotion types

"Lights Out" promotions are automated communications triggered by specific transactions or events, for instance when members join your loyalty program, celebrate a birthday or haven’t visited your business for a specific period of time.

Birthday

    • Automatically send members a special offer or just a message on the morning of their birthday
    • Members will receive an email/text message offer that they can redeem with an in-store purchase

Welcome

    • Automatically send a special offer or just a message to members after they join the loyalty program
    • Members will receive an email/text message offer that they can redeem with an in-store purchase

First Redemption

    • Automatically send members a special offer or just a message right after they redeem for the first time
    • Configure one offer or a series of offers to members who have redeemed for the first time after a specific amount of time(weeks) of joining the program

For example:

    • Members receive 100 bonus points when they redeem within their first two weeks of joining the program
    • Members receive an item reward when they redeem within their third and fourth weeks of joining the program
    • Members receive a thank you email when they redeem after their fourth week of joining the program
    • Members will receive an email/text message offer that they can redeem with an in-store purchase 

Slow Starters

Note: this automated offer is only available only for reward punch card programs

    • Automatically send a special offer or just a message to members who haven’t earned their first reward yet
    • Configure one offer or a series of offers to members who haven’t reached their first item reward after a specific amount of time(weeks) has passed since joining the program
    • Members will receive an email/text message offer that they can redeem with an in-store purchase

Communication Consent

    • In Canada, implicit consent to receive email communications expires after two years 
    • To comply with Canada’s anti-spam legislation, you can send an automated email to members to renew their consent a few weeks before it expires

At-Risk, Lapsed, and Lost Members

    • Set up this series of offers to incentivize members to come back and visit after a specific number of months
