What is Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance?

This article covers what PCI compliance is.

Merchants handle private customer information in order to do business. This includes information on their debit and credit cards. It is important to both merchants and their customers that the merchant handles this information in a secure manner. The PCI Security Standards Council sets security standards for merchants to follow. These standards apply to all organizations who process payments.

PCI compliance covers how to:

  • Build and maintain secure systems and networks
  • Protect cardholder data
  • Maintain a vulnerability management program
  • Implement strong access control measures
  • Monitor and regularly test networks
  • Maintain an information security policy

Zomaron works with Sysnet, an Elavon partnered PCI compliance manager, to offer our merchants the ability to complete their PCI compliance online.
